Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is Counselling?
A: There are many different styles of counselling but the type of counselling you will receive at Talking Heads Counselling is called 'person centred’ or 'humanistic'. What this means is that the session will revolve around you, in a way and at a speed you are comfortable with. You and your issues will always be treated with respect and I will never say or do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable.
Q: What are the sessions actually like?A: Humanistic counselling is a lot like having a chat with an impartial friend - someone who is definitely on your side but who can see the bigger picture and has an above average knowledge of human behaviour - which will undoubtedly help you with any issues you may have.
Q: Will counselling actually help me resolve my issues?
A: Most issues are capable of being resolved and even those which are more resistant to change can often be transformed into something which can be better understood and coped with - so they don't feel so bad - and they don't make you feel so bad. If you have been struggling with what seems to be an impossible situation and would like to change it for the better, then contact me now. If you have never tried counselling before, it is understandable if you are a little apprehensive. Caution is, after all, often what keeps us safe but, unfortunately, it does not always help us progress to an even safer place.
Q: Why Talking Heads Counselling?
A: Talking Heads Counselling came into being because I believe that two heads are better than one and that talking to a professionally trained, non-judgemental and independent listener provides the best kind of support and assistance available today. You can talk through almost any issue (see previous page) at your own pace and from your own perspective
Q: How much does it cost?
A: The initial assessment is free, with continuing fees to be mutually agreed. Generally, privately paying clients will pay £40 per session but corporate rates may vary and concessions are available. If you are on a reduced income but still feel you would benefit from counselling then please contact me and we can sort something out.
Q: How do I contact Talking Heads Counselling?
